PROGRAMME ACTION
ST HELENS SOROPTIMIST AWARDS
E.M. Taylor from Billinge left a legacy to the St Helens Soroptimist club to encourage catering students who have succeeded despite very difficult circumstances; she worked at the Gas showrooms in St Helens as a demonstrator.
These awards are very important to the students but also to the college following their brilliant success in achieving an award for Best Large Kitchens for their catering facilities.
Paul Sprague and Anne Marie Jeffrey are pictured here receiving their E. M. Taylor award from President Sue Black of the St Helens Soroptimist club.

“£6,000 RAISED “
How thrilled the members of the Soroptimist Club of St Helens are to be able to announce they have raised nearly £6000 since April when Sue Black took over the Presidential role for the next year.
CHARITY LUNCH
Their annual Charity Lunch held at Houghwood Golf Club, a wonderful venue for any event…raised £2,006 (photographs from this event can be viewed on our Club Activities page)
SUMMER POPS
This was closely followed by a spectacular Summer Pops Open Air event, held on a very wet night at the home one of our own members but still raising £2,795. The weather was never going to dampen this wonderful summer scene set in a very beautiful garden.
WILLOWBROOK HOSPICE
£500 was donated to Willowbrook Hospice to help in the service of a wonderful facility for terminally ill patients. It offers great comfort to the patient, and importantly offers a respite for their loved ones in the knowledge that they are so well looked after.

Pictured is 2010 President Sue Black handing the £500 cheque to Neil Wright, Chief executive officer who gave an update of the progress being made at the Hospice by the management.
