Welcome to Newport and District Soroptimist club.

Our Club was chartered in 1963 and currently has 27 members representing a wide age group of active professional women engaged in a diverse range of professions and voluntary work.

Soroptimist International (S.I.) is a worldwide organisation for women in management and the professions, working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.

Each S.I. club is based on a geographical area, such as a town or city.  Our members come from across South East Wales including Newport, Chepstow, Portskewett, Rogiet, Magor and surrounding areas.

We are part of the Wales South Region.

We call our voluntary work ‘Programme Action’ and it is the reason for being a Soroptimist. It reflects the vision and values of S.I., which are to be a global voice for women through awareness, advocacy and action. We strive for the advancement of the status of women, high ethical standards, human rights for all, and equality, development and peace

We are committed to service to local, national and international communities, active participation in decision-making at all levels of society, international goodwill and understanding.
